"Moin" is an established whole-day-long-suitable-Greetingword in Hamburg, Germany, Europe. The term roots in the over centuries developed Hamburgish dialect. The pronunciation is based on a nasal tone and if you know the children's song "Old McDonald had a farm" and remembering "[...] with an Oink-Oink here and an Oink Oink there [...]" you perfectly hit the right sound, tune, and somehow grumpily funy mood for a happy "Moin!". (Who wants his language to be compared to the noise of a pig? - Not me - sounds & letters always hide surprises. Words are very necessary, scary while funny nonetheless).
